Intro to Computation, Technology, and Culture
With this project I wanted to explore a greatly under-utilised real estate of the keyboard for more natural and fluid 3D modelling. Rather than using a mouse or another type of input, just by pressing on the keys, a clay like model-making process can take place. Although the final is constrained to a rectilinear format, there is potential to expand this model to a full 3D space, so you could sculpt complex models in a natural context.
I started this project exploring key-logging codingĀ from the ground up in Processing. I then transferred that 2D space tracking onto 3D models. The 3D printed prototypes form architectural landscapes that would be hard to replicate using traditional mouse inputs of 3D modelling software.
