NW Corner of CT Topography

My intention with this project was to explore further uses for the laser cutter on tasks that would be literally impossible by hand. Decomposing the map into its composite cut layers for the model was a mammoth task in and of itself. Throughout the whole experience, I learned how laser cutters can work productively in conjunction with computer design. It shows the local topography I’ve fallen in love with during my time here. I am a highly visual person, and I will forever cherish the view from my Architecture studio across the lake, from my dorm room to the mountains, and all the other memories of location that have been seared into my mind's eye. All of that is evoked in this compressed view of the landscape.
